To My Fellow Students,

I don’t know how old I was when I learned our school’s colors nor who sparked my hatred for Sparky.   I don’t know at what point I started referring to the Arizona Wildcats as “us” and their opponents as “them.”  But I do know I attended my first football game at five years old and sat in the South end zone.  I know that I watched every game of the 1997 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament that featured Arizona, and I was the happiest first-grader in the country when we won the championship.  In many ways, I feel like the University of Arizona has been a huge part of my life since birth.

As a freshman college student I’ve become more than just a fan.  I am an honors student and a pre-business major.  I am a member of the Public Administration Student Society, the Freshman Class Council, the Sigma Chi fraternity, and the Men’s Rugby Team.  I live on campus and love just about every aspect of the university.  Even so, I feel like the University of Arizona could be even better.

As a Senator, I want to work to see that this university only improves, and there are three particular areas I want to focus on:

The first is school spirit and pride.  In addition to ensuring Zona Zoo stays the best student section of the Pac-10, I want to do more to promote club events as well, from rugby and lacrosse games to student plays and concerts.

Second, I think weekend transportation needs revamping.  Safe Ride does not operate on Friday and Saturday nights, and Cats RIDDE has not run in quite some time now, leaving students with fewer options after late nights of weekend social events (like studying).  Whether we solve the problems by re-introducing Cats RIDDE or finding a way to charge taxi fares to Cat Cards or another option, something needs to be done.

Third, and most importantly, I want to keep the cost of being a student affordable.  I attended the ASA-coordinated protest against the state budget cuts to higher education, and I feel the students at Arizona need a Senator who will continue to fight for affordable tuition and fees.

If you believe in my dedication to this school and agree with my platforms, I hope you will vote for me.

Go Cats!
