Tyler Quillin

Tyler Quillin has been involved and active in his school community, as well as his neighborhood community for just about his whole life. He was highly involved with student government in high school. Along with being the Student-Body Treasurer, he was the Treasurer for the International Thespian Society Chapter at his high school.
Once arriving at the University of Arizona he immediately got involved with the Blue Chip Leadership Program and began volunteering consistently at the non-profit organization on University Blvd. called Ben's Bells. However, Tyler felt as if he could give more to his community, make better use of his talents and skills, and make more of a positive impact in his new community. So, he applied and was accepted at the Special Events Chair for the University Activities Board, which is now an entity of ASUA. Through this position, Tyler has been working since last summer on a large-scale event geared towards educating the student-body about the humanitarian travesties occurring in Darfur. This event is scheduled to take place in mid-April. Through this position he has also helped bring the controversial comic artist Keef Knight to campus after the printing of a seemingly blatant racial comic ran in the Daily Wildcat the day after then Senator Barack Obama won the presidency. In addition, he aided in making the Social Justice League’s Tentropolis event become a reality. Tentropolis was an event geared towards giving college students an insiders’ experience into how the homeless live by asking them to give up their dorm, apartments and houses, in addition to their beds and electronics and live out of Gittings Gym for a week. During the fall semester of 2008 he applied and was accepted into an internship with the Arizona Students’ Association. This internship led to him being one of the head student organizers for the UAVotes2008 campaign, as well as a head student organizer for the campaign against the Arizona Board of Regents tuition
increase.
All of these experiences have enabled Tyler to cultivate and further the skills and knowledge to make an excellent ASUA Senator, ready and willing to serve each and every student at the university. But he needs your help. Vote Tyler Quillin for ASUA Senate and help him, with your help, make some positive change in your community.
